Mineke Foundation

mineke foundation is a non-governmental organization (ngo) active in liberia. since 2015, we've been providing vocational & business training, especially for women. we support our former trainees with micro loans. we have built up a strong reputation as a result of the high-quality training we provide and our professional, business-like approach. mineke foundation is an officially accredited local liberian foundation and vocational school. we have used the covid-19 lockdown to speed up the transformation of our vocational training into social enterprises that offer training on the job and that will eventually become financially independent. we are also fundraising for the renovation of the school built by our founder's parents. our committed and motivated local team manages our projects in liberia. we have a team of international volunteers who support the team in liberia, including through fundraising, social media & communication and knowledge transfer. there is regular contact between the teams. our fun and enthusiastic volunteers live in the netherlands, italy, switzerland, and south africa and will quickly make you feel at home! we largely work as a remote team and connect monthly via zoom. apart from that, we use a lot of whatsapp and email. we are bilingual: dutch and english. mineke foundation was founded in the netherlands in 2009 by tonia dabwe to build on the work of her parents. the foundation is named after tonia's dutch mother who has been missing in liberia since the civil war. for more information about our work, check out www.minekefoundation.org and www.facebook.com/minekefoundation.
